After much struggling, I finally removed the thermostat from my water pump (whomever was in there last put in the snap ring so the plier holes were at the 9:00 position). Setting aside murderous thoughts directed at that individual, here are the bits and pieces I've got for the replacement that I'm unsure of their purpose:
The old t-stat only had the cursed snap ring and metal spacer, whereas the new one had the three items above it. The leftmost rubber ring has a groove on the inside so I'm guessing it's supposed to cover the large edge of the t-stat, but what are the paper one and the other round o-ring supposed to be used on? Thanks in advance!
