Autothority chips?
Is this chip set fairly "tame" buy todays standards? The 951 I just purchased has them as part of the package K-27 autothority mass air flow deal that the former owner put in. I am wondering if a set of guru chips might optimize things a bit more? Also the car has no provision to vary the air fuel ratio. Is the ARC 2 a decent method for this combined with an ARM ratio meter (which I already have sitting in a box at home).

I've got 3 set's of APE chips...........
1 set-Stage II
1 set-APE MAF K26/6
1 set-APE MAF K26/7(Turbo S)
I'd sell all 3 sets for $200........I pay freight

The ARM is not very useful, you need a real wideband to accurately read and tune. The ARC2 is a coarse tuner but would allow you to get closer. I know Danno has done chips for MAF cars, and if they're anything like his "normal" chips, they will run smoother and make more power than your current chips.

Danno has some chips for the Autothority MAF kits. Supposedly the MAF kits will read the amount of air coming in and compensate with higher fuel better than some of the other MAF kits which need the ARC2, etc. for adjustment (at least if I understand Danno correctly).
He made some for a friend of mine with the Autothority MAF kit and a K27/8 that uses the car for PCA Club Racing and he really likes them.

I got a narrow band monitor to keep an eye on whether my autothority chips were running lean. If anything, the car runs rich with them.
Anyhow, don't you think the people who make these chips would have made adustments if they needed to?

Mine ran SUPER rich mid-range, and lean at the top.
The narrowband told me nothing because the different between 10:1 and 14:1 is probably .01 volts.
I threw in the wideband and thought it was broken my A/F curve was so bad.
That engine is toast now anyway, but looking at the cylinder walls, those chips didnt do it any favors.

Peckster, do a search, multiple dyno a/f charts have been posted, the Autothorities are either too lean or too rich at nearly every point, and that has not changed over their revisions.

Too rich I can see. Where are they lean?
I'm going to ask them why they're still so bad. I'll post their response here.

I hope Danno doesn't mind me posting this link....

Theres a comparo of the chips on multiple cars and years
I have APE in mine now and also run super rich in the mid-range. I plan on keeping them for now, however, until next year most likely. If the PO installed them like mine did, why remove them now when you could upgrade to MAF...and THEN upgrade to Guru chips. Danno will burn custom chips apperently, so that's my plan! Test pipe and IC hardpipes from BoostGuy, custom intake heat sheild/ram-air box and vented nose panel. That my plan for the summer, and that's all costing a lot less than upgrading chips... so NEXT summer it's MAF with chips from Danno
