Default WG to atm or plumbed in?

I have my exaust off and have just finished the DEI wrap and cool it spray (hoping that will negate the removal of most heat shields). Now... decision about the WG. Not sure if I should go to atm or not. I would like to as it is a weight saving in part. Would there be any perfromance gain? I would expect a little yeah?

20 grams? if you intend to vent directly without using mufflers.

Mine vents to the atm via a "pro-circuit" muffler... weight gained, no loss. We are assuming that by doing this, there will be less back pressure..

20 grams my ***. From the WG there is at least a metre long 2 point something inch pipe going back in after the resonator. Surely thats more than 20 grams. Whats the sound like for you Andrew? Only noisy on boost? Cool or not? Dont be biased.

hey NZ951 tha weight saving is not important allthough it's a @#%&*^ lot more than 20 gramms..the thing is back pressure is eliminted and hey why do racers do it? more power...but I think you allready knew this..since it's clear that first of all the main exhaust is not hinderes by extra holes from wastegate wich does not create full pressure untill high rpm preventing overboost but creating escape/stall places from main exhaust wich only strts going away the higer boost you reach untill full boost wich may eliminate that pressure..so if you want a LITTLE more power down low just vent the wastegate in the ATM..you will all have to fogive me I have just come back from Reagan's Irish Pub and I am not at my explanatory best..but anyway I think you understand!! vent in atm1!!!....just cut the pipe asap but also not too short and vent it down but not too much..not sure if you have speed bumps in NZ but here in good ole USA we have PLENTY and boy can they tag some pipes and obliterate them..or at least really alter them!!!!!! so do your best and make sure it's a full 3 inch exhaust and use a straight thru muffler..I will and I live in California the smog **** state!!! and yes noisy but not much more than 3' exhaust ..however on full boost thae wategate d tube...well very lively and even better it light up the streets at night>>>awesome fireworks show for them ricer geeks......or any other ...what you people think?

No smog or emissions testing here at all. The only thing holding me back is the $250 resonator I put in in place of the front muffler (we dont have cats from stock) which would have to be removed for the new 3" pipe which means a new resonator damn it. I have a TRR straight through muffler already.

maybe not 20 grams, how about 200grams? I forgot what stock is like, I have the LR 3" exhuast and the WGout pipe is definitely <20cm.

Depending on the type of Boost Control/wastegate you use, mine starts farting near full boost. "blap...blap...blapblapblap.....blaaaaaaaaaap!"

I don't if there are any significant gains, cos a lot of things were done at the same time.

Must vent to ATM, Sounds great! I don't know for sure if it makes more power or not, as so many modifications were done at the same time.

How about flames?
I don't like the idea of potential flames from the wg released directly under the car.

I don't think the wastegate produces any flames, nobody has mentioned it after following me. Out the tail pipe is another story.

I know Rage2 has mentioned flames from under his car without the tie-in but perhaps it's not as often/common as the tailpipe

I believe the flame are more like sparks and only at full boost and very small..and occassional..as far as powe I believe it's more free flowing but nothing to notice...
