Spray pattern is one of the reasons I chose the 6-hole disc-type injectors to sell as upgrade. At the higher flow-rates above 55lb/hr, single-tip pintle injectors spray a tight 2-degree jet that can saturate a paper-towel from 10-ft away. Not a chance that it'll be vapor by the time it enters the engine, but hitting the intake-valve will probably spread out that spray quite a bit. The 6-hole disc-type end sprays a wider 5-degree cone and is fully vaporized within 3-feet, even in the larger 84# sizes. The 160-lb Bosch injectors I have on the hand will spray a solid stream of fuel over 20-feet...

Very interesting info regarding the spray pattern of the different injectors. Thanks Danno.

Danno,

How do the 6 hole disc-type do for metering fuel at or around idle speeds? Are they more or less efficient than the single tip pintal type injectors at lower RPM?

I think it depends on the flow rate Pauerman. For the siemens I have, at 1.4 milliseconds (I think the lowest rate the injector can be controlled at) it kinds of dribbles out, where the stock bosch ones still have a decent spray. I think the figure is right, something like that anyway.

Sorry to hijack but...

A local fuel injector distributor that also provides an injector cleaning service told me that (in his experience) Bosch injectors have the best overall performance in regards to spray pattern and accuracy. His next choice was Delphi injectors with the 6 hole disc tip.

On Racetronix's website it claims the 75-lb/hr Dephi 6-holes have a cone spray angle of 22.5 degrees
