Default power steering accessory belt

I'm going to replace my power steering pump accessory belt on 89 Turbo. My current belt is smooth on both the pulley sides and the outside. All my searches shoe belt with ribs on pulley side. Does anyone have the correct part #.

The ribs are brand specific so you likely have the correct part fitted just by a brand that doesn’t use ribs. Iirc the ribs are supposed to make the belt run quieter.

Correct, and it does not have ribs; it's a 9.5x950 belt. My local shop told me it was too narrow and installed a 10x950. I've use the 9.5 before without issues so don't know why they didn't use it.

Can someone please clarify the correct/multiple correct power steering belt. I currently have (Porsche 999.192.241.50 Dayco 42-5899) I am pretty confident this may be the" original" from the factory belt on my 89 Turbo. It is smooth top and bottom. Paragon lists 10 x 950 Conti bottom ribbed. Dayco SX-3591 "Top Cog" is listed as Direct replacement and is smooth on bottom and ribbed on top. Does it really matter if it is bottom cog? I've owned multiple 951"s and none of them had any type cog belt top or bottom. Am I splitting hairs?

According to my (lengthy) records, a 999-192-241-50 was installed on my S2 in 1997. Sometime after that the P/N was changed to 999-192-236-50. I have no idea if a ribbed, non-ribbed belt makes a difference.

The off-the-shelf 10x950mm belts from Contitech, Gates, etc, with ribs work great for the 944 power steering belt, I have installed many on customer cars and on my own 951 over the years with zero issues as long as the tension is correct.

It is critical to have a 9.5mm smooth V-belt for an air-cooled 911 fan/alternator belt, however, because they use shims to set the tension. For this application we use only Genuine Porsche belts.
