Default 944 Turbo Clutch Kit and Clutch Fork

Can you guys recommend a clutch kit for a stock 944 Turbo?

I also plan to replace the clutch fork and found this one that is supposedly an upgrade. Anyone have experience with it? What's your feedback?

Thanks

Not enough info to recommend any particular one. If your car is stock or has mild go fast parts and you enjoy driving it on the street stay away from all the lightweight stuff . They have their place but it’s not on the street. The springs are stiff combine that with little inertia and “grabby” discs and you will want to shoot yourself in the head every time you have to stop for a red light. A “cup” clutch is a nice upgrade..20 years ago I put an aluminum super lightweight setup I’m my 89... drove it for another 300 miles and hated driving it.. the clutch chatter was so bad the rear view mirror fell off.. I never drove the car again... and I still own it.

New (from Porsche) clutch forks are only a few dollars more than the "upgraded" one you are looking at. Sunset Porsche has them for $343. That's the route I went. Comes with new needle bearings... and it seems beefier than the one that came out of my car.

I bought the Sachs KF248-01 Clutch Set. Best price (from someone not totally sketchy) was from Amazon.

Is this the clutch fork from Sunset? Did you replace the clutch fork shaft as well?

Thanks for the recommendation on the Sachs KF248-01 clutch kit. Looks like Autoplicity is the cheapest at $599 which is the cheapest, no tax and free shipping.

That’s the one. I did not replace the shaft. The fork had clear wear. The shaft is pretty beefy and seemed just fine.

I did replace the guide sleeve attached to the bell housing and the rear main seal. You’re 95% there by the time you get to the clutch.

I reused my original clutch fork, sending it to a well known person that refurbishes them, including "hardening" and new "superior" bronze bearings. A new shaft was required to mate to the new bearings.

Months later, the fork cracked.

I replaced it with an new one from Porsche--something not available at the time I did the clutch job originally--and its been fine since. Daily driver FYI

Get the new one from Porsche with the original style needle bearings and get a new shaft. Install and carry on like it has for last thirty years

The clutch release lever is $323.44 at Delaware Porsche vs $343.08 at Sunset. I pretty much buy all my parts at Delaware now since Sunset recently started charging sale tax. That said, if your tax rate is low you can get free shipping at Sunset with code LANDOFTHEFREE.

I guess I should consider getting a new release lever for my S2 as it's going into the shop for a new clutch, etc. soon, and I know it's never been changed.
