Default Factory Springs

My 89 Turbo org. factory Koni's are out for rebuild. Plan on re-using factory org. springs. What is available as a replacement or upgrade for springs?

Afaik unless you fit coilovers your choice for spring upgrades are zero.

Curious why your 89 Turbo didn’t come with the M030 suspension from the factory?

They are M030's. I was just putting out a feeler if re- using the org. springs was ok or if replacing with newer was an option.

When I was running factory M030 shocks, I used a spin on spring perch and locking collar and just switched up to 2.5" springs. Super easy upgrade unless there's something magical you want to keep in the factory springs.

I am running a 2.5" coil over kit similar to the Paragon one on my '88 951S with M030. Lots of spring choices from Hyperco and others. The prior owner (who installed the kit) ran the car on the street and track. I do the same so never felt the need to play with spring rates, but there are a lot of choices and the springs are pretty cheap at <$75 per..

On my 1990 S2, currently fitted with Koni double adjustable M030 type struts, I converted to 2.5" ID linear rate Hypercoil springs using spring seats and hats I purchased from Karl at Racer's Edge. Since your M030 already has the threaded collars you only need seats and hats. If the thread on the M030 is common with other coilover struts another option might be Motion Control Suspension seats and hats. Here's a couple of pictures of my Koni setup with 10" long springs:

Unless you are planning to stiffen the rear I'd probably just leave the front springs stock and enjoy the "supple ride."

That kit appears to use parts from Racer's Edge, but no jam nuts are included as shown in my images. Are they not really needed? Karl's sight doesn't list them but my new MCS suspension came with seats and jam nuts.

It's been a long time since I looked at mine, but I think you're supposed to reuse the stock locking collar and just swap the spring perch.

Unfortunately the lower spring perch for the M030 coilovers and 2.5" springs from Racers Edge are no longer available. I purchased the last one from Karl a few years ago thinking I might have another fabricated. Never followed through with that plan but always keeping an eye out for an odd one or pair of spring perches. I would think Koni could put a new threaded collar on with proper lower spring perches for 2.5" springs when doing a rebuild. I would reach out to them and see what options you have available. Changing to 2.5" springs offers a lot of flexibility but the original springs are progressive and there is additional comfort on the street with those.

Ah, that makes sense. When I installed the Konis on my S2 it was with new struts, so I didn't have the factory collars.

I run the stock M030 springs and really can't imagine anything stiffer on the street.

Well then... I guess you aren't the "Expert in all fields of knowledge" after all :-) But yeah, I agree, no way to get there without the super secret link. You can search all day and won't find it. Paragon might wonder why they never sell any kits, ha, ha.
