Default Throttle Body Vacuum Line

86 951 - What would happen if the vaccuum line under the throttle body was removed? I found mine off, and am wondering what symptoms I can determine are linked to it.

Thanks
Mike

Maybe a rough idle.
Running a bit rich.
slightly slower spoolup.

When on boost, this wouldn't be like a hole in the stream of charge air and just **** out boost?

It would, but your turbo would be able to make up for this amount of air.
Hence the spooling a bit later.

You won't get more boost now, but you will get more boost sooner.

My boost problem is that I'm getting a couple psi in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear, but in 4th at WOT i'm getting 11psi. Hopefully this will fix this but from what your saying not alot off boost can bleed off through the hole.

What are you using for boost control and waste gate?

My vac hose is capped off there. Cant remember why I did that. What does the throttle body vac point go to? Is it the fuel purge system?

I needed to fill the second hole with somethign so i went with water temp because

1.My stock water temp guage is not working correctly, its kinda intermittent and can't be trusted.
2.Before getting on boost, everythign should be to normal operating temp., so I figure if the engine is warm(from the water temp reading), then the rest of the stuff should be good to go too, like the oil temp and pressure since they all kinda warm up together. I know some people have oil temp for this reason, but I didn't want to start tapping into places for an oil temp.
3.Since these cars are known to run hot and have cooling system issues, i thought that it would be a good idea along with #'s 1 and 2.

Do you think that makes sense, warm water temp = warmed up oil = dropped oil pressure? When I decided to go with the Water temp, I just kinda assumed that was how it went, never really got a real answer.

Thanks

Well with everything stock the little leaks make more of a difference because the stock system dose not use any feed back it just has a set duty cycle and that is it. Also with the tired stock system you will not get full boost in the lower gears but probably should be able to in 3rd gear.

yea, I'm not expecting full boost in low gears, but I'm talking like 3 or 4 psi.
