Howdy,
I have an 86 model and would like to know if the timing belt manual tensioner can be upgraded the later model auto tensioner setup?.

Would this be a good idea when i change all my belts? Any reason not to do it if it can be done?

I think it can be done, but drilling and tapping holes for mounting would need to be done.

No reason to do it - the autotensioner preloads the belt and then you manually tighten, and then you still need to check with the belt tension gauge. There's no benefit to having it.

I am in the process. While my block was at the machine shop I had them drill and tap the bosses. Now all i have to do is put it back together and see if it all fits.........
