Rattling at 2000RPM
I just bought a 951 about a month ago. As soon as I accelerate and it hits 2000rpm, it will make a rattle noise. It sounds like its coming from the back or middle of the car. It doesnt matter how fast I am going, it will always do it. Theres nothing really wrong, its just that the noise is kind of annoying.
Anyone know what this could be?

John, no one is responding because they have learned not to say anything if they don't know the answer. Then there's people like me that don't know when to shut up. If it sounds metalic ck the catalyst heat sheild then the motor monut heatsheild on the passenger side then finally the sheild between the 1-4 exhaust manifold and the oil filter.Good luck!

I'd also second the guess about the cat heat shield.
Get on the ground and have someone rev the car and see if its coming from around the cats.

My car also has a noticeable vibration from 2000 to 2200 rpm that's worse when cold. After the engine is completely warm it's not as noticeable. I know I could use some new engine mounts so I hope that will clear it up. Does yours need mounts too?

I'm not sure. I am not too mechanically inclined, so I'm taking it to my local garage next monday to have the belts, hoses, suspension, and a rough idle looked at. I'll have them look at the mounts too. Is taking it to my local garage a mistake? The closest Porsche dealer is 45 minutes away (Holberts).

I recently had a similar problem. I just got done passing a semi on a two lane road and it felt like my car was driving on a rough road. Only I didn't remember the road feeling like that earlier. Turned out that my balance belt had started to strip. If I revved the engine while sitting it still felt rough. Also at lower rpms it still felt smooth, but upper Rpms felt rough. Anyway got it replaced and the roughness went away. Guess I got lucky nothing more serious happened.
