I need some tips guys.

I just removed my other bellhousing last week with no problems, but I'm trying another one and can not get the pivot shaft out for the life of me.

I've tried hammering from the top with a screwdriver,
I've tried pulling and prying on the bolt I thread into the bottom.
I've sprayed WD-40 everywhere.
I'm giving up for the day and letting it soak in PB blaster for the night.

This thing isnt coming without some sort of real leverage or powertool.
Any ideas?

(and yes... the locking screw is out)

What kind of hammer are you using? Try a "Dead Blow" hammer.

I've tried many different kinds. I don't think that will help, but I may try it if I can find one.
Any other ideas?

Alex mentioned a slide hammer. That would probably do it.

Your problem may be similar to what I ran into once. The clutch's rubber center disintegrated and melted itself around the pivot shaft. I had to resort to getting a tube just slightly larger than the pivot shaft, then using a long bolt and an oversize washer over the end of the tube, used the bolt to draw the shaft down into the tube. Worked like a charm.

I finally got it out, and I think its worth mentioning so others won't panic when they get a stubborn one.

I ended up finding a way to brace a punch on the end of the rod with some straps and paper and stuff, and just took one HUGE whack at it with a mallet.
I figured this would break something, but at this point I just wanted it out.

To my amazement it moved a centimeter or so.
I'm celebrating cause I figure, now thats its moved a bit it'll just come right out.
Wrong!

I can't get the second half out no matter how much I pull and pry and bang away.
(and I have plenty of room to pull at this point.)

What I finally ended up doing was lowering the whole engine to the ground on a tire, and attaching
vice grips to the end of the rod, then strapping the vice grips to the engine hoist.
I then proceeded to pick up the engine via the rod (except for the front of the engine which was still on the tire)

Then when you have the weight of the engine on the rod, you can pry on the fork with a screwdriver which will slowly work the rod out.

If the engine was in the car, I don't think it ever would have come out.

Jeesh!! You'd think it wouldn't come to that point... repairs that end up taking 10X what they should have because of stuck parts really get ya pissed, ya know? I'd probably be hitting things left and right by that point!
