Driving to the North of the country. Going at around 80 miles an hour (120km/hr) and covered 3,000 kms without 1 liter (1 quart) of oil consumption. Before the trip, the oil level with mid way between Max and Min. Drove there, came back, covered around 200kms (around 125miles) with the engine speeds at almost 3,000 rpm. After the trip, my oil level was on the Min mark. Now just asking, driving the car in town, redlining, full throttle, the car did 3,000 kilometers ( around 1800 miles) and consumed 0.5l ( 0.5 quarts) of oil. How come while cruising for long distances, it consumed more?

Sometimes around town your car does not get hot enough to burn off any vapour. This vapour ends up residing in the oil until a high speed run then burns off with a dramatic lowering of the oil level.

Let it sit at least overnight and then check it. Sometimes it doesn't drain out of the head as fast, don't ask me why, I just know sometimes when you check it right after shut down you get a low reading.
