Borrowing a stock DME/KLR would probably be easier to accomplish. No need to open up your DME/KLR and swap out the chips.

If you are in closed loop, with the AFR dithering around 14.7, I doubt very much that stock chips will help. Smog tests are done at very low load, where performance chips aren't all that different from stock, if at all. As long as you are in closed loop, any fueling difference between performance chips and stock chips would be adjusted out by the system and have no real effect on your emissions. Your chip may have a few extra degrees of timing at low loads (maybe!), but that's not going to cause you to fail unless something else is going on. I think you're barking up the wrong tree. If you car is otherwise stock, then a sound engine, strong ignition, functioning O2 closed loop, and a good cat should pass without problems. Have you looked after those basics?

If you still want factory chips, it may be easiest to burn your own with an EPROM programmer and the factory-chip BIN files floating around. I have Turbo S BINs but not non-S, although like I said above I doubt it would matter for smog.
