vitesse racing Stage 1 or stage 2?

I have come to the conclusion that when I go to moding the 951 it will be either of these two. Now I realize that the stage one is almost 45 hp lower but this is mostly going to be a street car so I want QUICK turbo spool. Anyone out there who owns either one care to share?

I personally went with Lindsey so I can't help you with your question. Just do a quick search and if you still have remaing question's then I am sure some of the people on the board running his kit's will speak up and be happy to answer any specific question's you might have with his kit's.

I'm also trying to figure out if I want stg1 or stg2. Quick spool up is my #1 priority. I've emailed John who was quick to answer all of my questions.
When I told I'm my main goal was quicker spool up he said:
Stage 2 is a better performer with similar spoolup.
Now, his site states full boost at ~3000 with stg1 and quick spool option; stg2 at ~3700. Not similar spoolup in my opinion, but I guess stg2 runs higher boost(?).
If I decided to go for MAF and new turbo I will go for one of these kits. I just got my car and think it is fast enough, allthough I've got a feeling I'll be yearning for more in a short while. Maybe a chip, bc and wg will suffice.

From "quick spool",,, don't forget about the boost "threshold". The Stage II turbos boost threshold is just higher than the stage I. Don't get confused between lag, spool up and threshold. If you have these cars in the upper rpm when you go to get on the boost, it's there, it's instant! I can comment on the stage II from an install point and performance. Jwl's car hits full boost 3700 - 3900 BUT, it holds a great torque curve all the way to around 5300 rpm, where it starts to fall off.
The performance of the kit is unreal for the amount of money spent and at 15psi.
FOR THE MONEY of Vitesse or Lindsey (without any super duper lightweight internals - 12 grand for custom headers, crossover pipe, headwork) it's very hard to gain better performance than with these kits. I'm not talking about the 363 Kokeln kit but Lindseys MAF kit that they now offer with similar parts but include the MAF.
You have to understand where these new parts are going to make power. ONCE you do that and drive the car accordingly or get on the boost accordingly, you'll be thrilled with the car. The only thing you'll have to watch out for now is making sure you don't spin the rear tires and break the car loose![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

When you add the "Quick Spool" to the Stage 2, 15psi boost is almost at the same RPM as the Stage 1 (around 3100-3200rpm). Without the quick spool, it's around 3600-3700rpm.

Eivind, John just posted how the quick spool option gets the stage II down to 3100-3200; that's some great performance. Besides, it's hard for me to tell what's happening in 200-300 rpm increments as it happens so fast.
With the piggyback systems you can also control the A/F ratios at the start of spool up to assist with it. You can lean that area out and then get the proper A/F ratios dailed in for torque and hp while on boost.
Now you can spend huge amounts of money and relocate the turbo to the passenger side, custom headers, do away with some things...again, it comes down to MONEY. In kit form for the money invested, Vitesse is one of the best with some of the best customer support around. good luck.

You should stay with your current turbo and contact Guru Racing for help.

I'm not sure there are very many other "kits" that are ready to go right now that offers better spool-up characteristics then the Vitesse kit.
With the Vitesse stage 2 with quick spool option, my car hits FULL boost @ 3100 rpm's with a $ 13 Home Depot controller and I'm running rich. When I plug in my AVCR and get my AF ratios in check I expect that number to drop by another 200.
You won't find one person with a Vitesse turbo that is not happy with the spool-up, even compared to stock.

I had a vitesse stage 2 and I hit full boost around 2,700 to 2,800. It had the quick spool option and it built up boost below 2,000 rpm nicely. The turbo I have right now hits full boost a little bit earlier but in my opinion that's mostly due to the Guru chips and my Lindsey wastegate.

The wastegate is what controls boost! No matter how good the turbo is, unless you can control boost (WASTEGATE) and keep it closed youu cannot bring down spoolup time.
