Default 968 engine compartment cover.

Anyone installed one? Anyone got a pic of what it looks like installed? There is usually one on eBay, and I like the idea of covering that stuff up. Do you know if it will fit RHD cars ok? Ie with the battery in the back etc.

I purchased one, but it does not seem to quite fit under the hood on a 944NA or 951. However, I have not had the chance to look at it in detail due to my busy work schedule at this time.

Here is a pic I found showing the installation on a 968:

Oh, one post said it went from the the windscreen to the rubber gasket!! I need one of these! I have a ton of stuff around that area though, I imagine it can be cut up etc. When you say it does not fit under the hood, do you mean it hits the hood?

I thought you were trying to reduce weight, not add it on unnecessarily?

I remember interference issues....unfortunately, I cannot recollect exactly what they are....if I recall correctly, there were interference issues with compartment cover having to accomodate the fuel rail, some cables, etc (different head arrangement for a 968).....the compartment cover may need to have extra cut-outs to accomodate some of the wiring harness/fuel piping under the hood.

If you take care of these issues.....then, the compartment cover will seat nicely, and clear the base of the hood (plus insulation).

I hope this mke sense for ya, NZ951.

Cheers mate,
Andrew

Here is an engine bay pic of a 944 to compare against the above 968 pic. Bottom line is it can be done, but may need minor modifications. I just don't have the time to do it on my car at this time.

Sure does make sense, I have a SS catch can and electronic boost controller mounted where the cruise control is anyway, so I will need to do some cutting. I think I will order one from partwerks, unless someone knows a cheaper source? I assume they are not RHD or LHD drive specific?

EDIT: With all the new PD harness colleting there and all the ugly lines etc, I want to tidy it up. I just cut all the old wire plastic covering and replaced with light weight conduit so a bit of plastic to clean up the bay is important. I would like to enter it the a car show next year... How heavy is that cover?

Anyone got a part number for it?

It is a very light plastic piece. You can lift it with one finger.

I have my new piece. I bought it for $69.95. You are welcome to have it for $35. I have way too many other mechanical things to work on both cars, and I just do not have the time for cosmetic improvements at this time.

Not sure how much shipping would be to NZ though. You are 3 weeks late asking this question as I was just in Brisbane and Melbourne

I could have hand-carried over, and shipped it from Oz!

I am not sure of the exact cost based on what I found on the USPS website:
http://ircalc.usps.gov/speed.asp?Cou...nue&Contents=1

Looks like it will be around $16.50 if I use Airmail Parcel Post (4 - 10 days):

Will this work for ya? My PayPal email addy is: acgoh1@msn.com

I am happy with the 16.50 freight expense. Are you sure this is the total? I have had instances when it turned out more later... so it will be 51.50 total right?

I hope you don't mind....I would like to have my wife check with the post office tomorrow on the exact shipment cost with the post.

Can I get back to you this weekend?
