If I do go with fiberglass, I have no illusions about fit and finish work. The header panel from Lindsay has a great look, so that's likely what will happen if I can't get a factory part.

I know Ill get ripped apart for this one, but the header panel from Lindsey makes the 951 look like a mac truck. Ruins the lines IMHO...

Dave - really just a heads up. You can vent your own panel pretty darn cheap, PM rl'er Red1 as he did the cutting on mine, I am sure he could tell you how he did it.

I made a template but I am having problems scanning it to scale. THe electronic scan is smaller then the original. Need to try another scanner.

I remenber a post some time back by a person would did this own, I scanned on a phrase he used "pucker factor" and found the link to his post...Sean951

Well Sam, right now the lines on my car are pretty much hosed as it stands. Finding a straight clean header panel for a reasonable amount is starting to look like the impossible dream, although, I may have line on a parts car that was hit in the rear quarter, passenger side. If that pans out and I can get the car, the parts issues may be solved.

Matt-
The only thing I have against cutting a hole is that I would like to have a rolled lip on the edge to give the edge a more finished look. No tool I've seen yet can do it on that small scale.

Put in 931 vents!!! I blue tacked them to my panel to see what it will look like... its sooooooo good. And functional! Someone make a fibreglass version! I am going to fit them when the 968 handles comes. Will post pics then.

Hmm cutting your own, never thought of that... if one of you gets a template, could you post it? I'd probably be willing to try that back at my old shop with the right tools if I could get my hands on a template. Maybe my paint guy could do a quick respray in the nose for me while I'm there.

Dave - my body shop did the rolled edge, it is not a very large edge but it is rolled and not sharp.

Kevin, it will HAVE to be repainted as the edges will be burred and need to be smoothed and repainted.

granted... I was saying that because I could get him to do it for a 12 pack instead of a nice price from a paint shop I would deburr, sand and prep it myself, though I am still curious as to how I might try to pull off a rolled edge myself.

As I remenber it, Sean951 put some trim around the cut edges. It really looked good. To bad the picture doesn't show up in the link.

It's not that hard to do, but I'd suggest you lay off the Mountain Dew before starting to cut.

hahaha of course... what did you do to prevent the edges from being a little sharp? I actually wouldn't mind it too much (as I'm not going to be fondling my car's nose TOO much, lol) but I think it might look a little more professional having a rounded sweep around it.

Matt, do you have any photos to share??

You just mised one of those on ebay. You should check the US site and ask if they'll ship it to you. Might be a little pricey I guess, but not that much!
