Default Another motor for the G-Machine!

The previous engine was built using Darton Sleeves. The machine shop (now out of business) aparently had no idea what they were doing. After having the sleeves move on me twice and leave the head gasket leaking (tore it down once, custom head gasket once) I decided to replace the engine.

I took another block with damaged cylinder walls and had dry sleeves installed for stock bore pistons. The rotating assembly is an S2 crank, Molnar rods and J&E pistons.

I checked the bearings for fit against factory tolerances. Molnar provided torque spec for the rods. J&E documentation provided ring gaps and bore specs.

I put the motor together in the spring of 2019. I finally did the engine swap Feb 2020.

Rennlist, Clark's garage and a set of Porsche 944 Factory manuals have been fantastic resources to

make it possible for me to get it done.

It was a great feeling to take it for a test drive today!

Now back to working on the race car :O

Great work. Looks like your rotating assembly is identical to what i am building . How does it feel with the 2.8l compared to the 2.5 and what turbo are you useing

Thanks to all The 2.8 makes a noticeable improvement in torque and power. I am running a Lindsey Super 75 turbo. It really comes alive at high boost and high RPM. To me, the way it accelerates harder all the way to redline is part of the joy of BOOST!

Congrads

what super75 config do you have?

I have T4 and .58 hotside with p-trim setup that
pulled like a freight train and was 444ft/lbs torque on 94 octane when I had the simple mafterburner.

switched to the mtune and was even faster but never finished tuning before diving into motor again.

Any interest in some JE 2.7 bore custom pistons ?
They were going to go in a sleeved 2.5 block.
I had ordered them from a supplier and there was a mistake with the compression calculations for my application, i believe they have a 3cc inverted dish and would
probably work for a turbo application. They were never installed as i had to order another set with a higher compression ratio ...

At this time , they are a very expensive ornament in my garage !
Anyhow , if anybody is interested i can dig up the build sheet from JE

Cheers
Phil

Tempting! I'm not looking to buy yet, I have the rotating assembly in the block I just pulled that I plan to re-use first :O
