#16
sorry about jacking ur thread, but i have these dark colored ones (not quite black, sorta dull gunmetal) that are ridiculously light, someone told me i have magnesium lug nuts, so i thought cool, but could these possibly be stock aluminum ones?

Porsche have used alu wheel nuts since 1965. The only time they break is
1. They were overtightened in the first place.
2. The socket was too short and did not engage the whole length of the hex.
3. An impact gun was used to try and undo them.
Since working on Porsches, I've seen maybe 10 broken or damaged nuts.
Make sure you use a slight amount of anti-seize on the stud threads and the cone of the nut, tighten to 130NM (94 lbft)

i'd say get the factory open-ended steel ones, they are recommended (required?) for track/DE so they should be plenty strong. not the prettiest things in the world but we're talking lug nuts folks...
