Default Where does the downpipe typically fail

Here’s a pic where I found the start of a crack. Is this the typical location where the downpipe fails? I know it’s difficult to determine how much longer it will take for this thing to completely cracked through but at about $1100 for a new one I might be willing to wait.

I also don’t want to purchase an aftermarket downpipe I’d like to keep it stock.

thanks
Mike G.

Try Lart951, he deconstructs tired cars.

That crack looks very weldable to me.

I honestly think that all downpipes will have some sort of cracking after 100K miles. Mine is worse than the one I got from Lart. I spoke with a coworker that used to weld stuff for Space-X and he said just install it, it's not worth it to weld! Probably last another 100K miles.

Thanks

They typically fail by the inner liner collapsing , which pinches off the exhaust flow
