944 v 997

I'm guessing you're serious about another 951, so you wouldn't have posted to a 951 forum.
My love for 944's comes partly from the fact that in a sea of jelly bean shaped Porsches -- I love the squared off edges of the 944.

As a 944t enthusiast and speaking off the top of my head...
1. Start looking now. They are 30 years old and it is going to become harder and harder to find well sorted one with all the options you would like. Such as color, interior color, LSD, running, clean interior/exterior. No dents. A cracked dashboard. You may need to spend additional money on items unrelated to engine performance. Or maybe you don’t care about color or interior color I don’t know. But to find one you like may be a little bit difficult now.
2. Prices are creeping up. Bring a trailer.com has sold some crazy expensive 944turbos now. Maybe money is not a problem for you but a well looked after one could run you $20,000 before any engine mods are performed. And with all the power you desire I think LSD will be important.
3. People are doing LS1 swaps, Audi 07k swaps are starting to happen. And the 3.0L swaps are common. So lots of power options out there.
4. If you don’t like it, just sell it.
This is all just food for thought. Hopefully something was helpful.

To answer your question. I would not. I do not have the driving experience to handle such a vehicle and would prefer modern technology, AWD and a race track to drive such a car.
Ive driven a 996tt with x50 package and OMG that was fast. Great handling.
edit: newer parts would make me feel safer too.
edit edit: but for daily driving, epic handling, turbo lag and then the boost rush, beautiful design, low technology... 944 all day baby. I just bought one so I’m on cloud 9 right now :-). Go get one!!!
