Lets make a cold air intake together!
Ok, I am sick of 30-40+ degrees going into my intake. Has anyone ever made a cold air system with the stock air box gone? I was thinking a 3" pipe from the turbo into the guard and then filter it there. I have also seen ricer carbon intakes around 3-4 inches round that seem to have the filter built inside them then they run a pipe some place cold... ideas? Does that light metal arm need to be that design? Can we free up more space there? Anyone?

Good idea...
Been thinking about that myself...
Seems like the internal filter is about the only way, unless you can fit a filter between the fender and the hole.

What do you mean?

Just for reference, I cut off the metal arm of my Headlight, it hasnt made any difference in the function of the light. I Mounted a cone filter right next to the hole in the fender. I dont think it would be a big deal to fab up a little enclosure to surround the filter and take air from the fender well.
I plan to try to fab up a true Cold air intake where the filter is located behind the bumper. I removed the bumper too see if this was feasible, and it looks like its possible but you will have to relocate the horn. (Not a big deal IMHO)

OK! Anyone know that what that metal arm is for??? I will remove it asap. I think a apexi type filter with the open end fitting as far into the fender as possible and a shroud around any thing in the bay with a 3" pipe to the turbo would be the go. That way the filter would be easy to get to for cleaning etc. Anyone done anything like this?
Boostguy, where did you cut it off from?

I cut it right at the back of the headlight housing. It is designed to be a "stop" so the light doesnt open too much and point up. But the Driver's side light is attached to the Passenger side light, which still has the stop in place. Like I said, no problems so far.

The filter is coated with an oil film, and it would have to be completely submerged in order to suck up water.
The ricers do this all the time with no problems.

I cut it off with a pneumatic rotary cut off tool. But I am fancy like that. A pair of tin snips would work.
