while its always a good thing to check wiring on high current devices in this case the problem is at restart when the wiring should not be overly hot and the actual fuel requirements are very small. that would normally rule out fuel line issues and fuel pump issues which woudl show up under high load / high fuel requirements.
the answer is to set up a fuel pressure gauge (and an adjustable regulator) - it sounds like the level of tuning you are shooting for would benefit from this!

I had a similar problem, on warm restart afr would be high 15s for about 15-20 seconds. This was after turning ignition on, letting wideband go through warm up cycle before starting. I also had a ft9 pump prime relay, and new fuel check valve, upgraded pump, proper fuel pressure on digital display in car new braidedfuel lines rebuilt wiring harness all new sensors new damper etc. Never figured it out, I thought it was vapor lock. I switched to VEMS and problem was history.

I finally fixed this today. There is a timer lockout for the closed loop lambda in the ECU that was set too long.
This does not explain however why only replacing the fuel pump threw everything out of the window...

Is it a genuine 044? There are tons of china knock offs around.
