Default anyone want a killer deal on a used turbo?

Kokeln "Street" turbo, less than 500 miles on it, and it was
installed onto a freshly built engine. I bought it when I thought
I'd have a 2.5L but now I'm running a 2.8 stroker w/ LOTS of
upgrades so I want to go EVEN bigger (it just doesn't end). This
turbocharger moves a lot of air and spools QUITE fast (657CFM
@ 1 bar / 695 peak) - lets just put it this way, at 3k rpm, my ex-
gf said "god, it's like being in a jet during take-off" - it really
does make quick, brutal power.

It fit perfectly, no modifications were needed - it's a Dry
centered turbo meaning you don't need the turbo water-pump,
extra hoses, etc - nice to eliminate some complicated plumbing
in the engine bay (as well as a problematic electrical part, my old
aux-pump was known to run my battery dead at least once
weekly).

kinda hard to see it tucked under the MAF pipes etc, but that's the actual turbo

asking 900 (I think that's pretty reasonable for a $1300 turbo + jet-hot coating w/ hardly any useage). If a 'lister buys it, I'll throw in an 88/89 28-pin DME+KLR computer with GURU chips Danno made specific for this turbo (right now the FQS is set on 73lb/hr iirc but that's easy to change w/ a golf-tee). I'm going stand-alone so I dont need these, and it'll make tuning easier (even if you chose to use a Link or Digital MAF your starting point will be a heck of a lot closer re: the proper zones / tables).

That's a good deal. Two of us are looking at a potential track car and then gut the rest of it to help pay for it. Depending on what we get it for(if we get it) we may have funds left over for the turbo/DME/KLR. I'll PM you if we get the car, have funds left, and if you still have it, cause I really like mine.

Daniel, not sure of its max hp but I do know that it made 377rwhp @18psi with the right set up(lindsey race car); I'm sure it would do more with boost and good fuel/timing control.

whoops...just realized street turbo...not sure if that would get 377...I think that was the "Club" or what used to be STage V. Street or stage 1 probably 325 to 350 IIRC, but that depends on set up.

Ski, that sounds like an awesome project!! I can't comment as to the spool up too much, other than it felt as fast or faster than I expected it to be. That said, it was quicker than stock, but my car's got a LOT done to it to help that

Lindsey told me that it should support 350 pretty easily, and was effecient up to I think 20ish PSI (Dave said it would run 18psi all day long)... The coolest thing tho, is that at only 1 bar it still flows GOBS of air, and lets just say, it gets to 1 bar FAST.

I'd prefer to not tear apart the DME/KLR units, 1) i'm busy 2) they're of no use to me / most people w/o SOME kind of chip in there. would you consider buying them as intact units (for CHEAP i promise) if someone buys the turbo and doesn't need/want the chips?

Can you e-mail me some assorted pics of everything at MacsDead@removethisAOL.com? I'm sorta interested.

Thanks
Sam

It may be a deal but not a killer deal. A killer deal would be something like $200 or so. $900 is more like a normal price.

nah, $200 would be such a low price i'd be worried whoever was selling it was 1) insane 2) there was something wrong or 3) it was stolen or something

i donno, i'd be willing to negotiate a LITTLE on the price, but when you consider a new turbo, plus the cost of chips and a used DME/KLR (not that everyone is clamboring to get those parts, but the idea of it being plug-and-play ia kinda nice) you're talking about 1300+250+400ish(?) of value for 900, seems pretty reasonable to me sorry if my choice of words was a little too enthusiastic (i just like "killer" )

Is it just me of is there a lot of turmoil about the proper use of adjectives lately?

The huge flame fest about very fast vs extremely fast vs stupid fast, etc.
and now this stuff about a killer vs normal deal.

"Killer deal" would be how one would describe Sam's avatars...

Dmoffitt... I am thinking hard on this one... I was all set to go with a K27-6 but the matched chip set makes your sound a bit more attractive.

Does anyone want to buy my Guru Stage II set up, complete with handheld tuner? That would seal the deal for me.

Regards,
