Default what bulb size? Gauges..

1986 Turbo

swapping bulbs in cluster to LED but cannot tell what size some are and superbrightleds.com doesnt show them..

Need 13 of the ones like I circled in red. Tried local auto parts stores, no luck even in non LED
Anyone have an idea? They twist out but the bulb cannot be removed from the holder

I don't know the needed wattage, but take a gander through the list here: Bel-metric. I hope and expect there is some marking on your current bulb that can be used to identify its wattage. Probably 1.2 watt, but not sure. Available from Porsche as 999.631.302.90 (1.2 watt) or 999.631.303.90 (1.5 watt). I recall using 30 ma. versions of bulb where lower intensity was desired, but memory is a bit hazy.

Before you consider changing those bulbs to LEDs, note that LEDs are diodes and will work or not work depending on the orientation of bulb in the printed circuit. The circuits for the warning bulbs are polarized. There will be little to no advantage to having LEDs as warning lights.

^^^This

Also be aware that the battery warning light has positive on both ends, alternator voltage on one side and battery voltage on the other, with ~12v on each side of the bulb it won’t illuminate. If either the battery or the alternator fails the light will illuminate as there will be a differential voltage across the bulb. So an LED simply won’t work there.

The tunnel lights are 194. If I recall, the warning lamps are 37 with base and quite hard to find.

Well, I learned that pretty much all the B8.5 LED's from Amazon are crap. The ones where the LED is square and sitting on top do not fit in the round hole.

Just heads up to anyone else who goes down this path.

I used LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com. They're awesome and I installed them in 2009. I'm sure they have even better bulbs now. There are a couple of writeups that cover this project.

No Idea what brand LED I bought at Auto Value but they work and the dim function works and are way brighter than stock.
