OK I am searching out RHD parts in case I end up converting my 951 to RHD in Australia. If you know of any RHD parts that are available I'd be very interested to hear from you. In particular the crossmember and steering rack/link/column.
Cheers

Oz, will keep an eye out here in Aus for you for cars being dismantled, but after reading on a fellow rennlisters (Trevor Scott, I think) web site that only 180 were imported here, explains why I cant find many being dismantled. Might be a good idea to look around UK websites for cars being dismantled

Hey Glen, thanks. 180 huh... well that kind of explains a few things. I have already been in contact with some UK vendors but thanks for the heads up.

Man, I would SO like to convert my car to RHD - I had a first-year Datsun Fairlady once, RHD, 2.0l - It was pretty exotic driving on the "wrong" side. A RHD 951 would be great!

golly man...i heard it is a real operation to do the conversion - might u not be better off stripping urs of the stuff u want and getting it in running condition, selling it, and then buying a nice one in aus and installing the bits urself? i heard that few (if any) people can do the conversion properly without it looking really second-rate. i've seen a couple that were done by supposed experts, and they looked nowhere even close to factory.

Back from the dead....
So thinking about this, what are the major challanges given that there is a donar car / parts available?
I take it the servo stays where it is, there must be a linkage that runs inside the firewall across from the pedal to the servo. What about the steering? how are RHD 944's steering configured anyway? I cant see much room around the exhast manifold for the shaft to run down to the rack so is there some kind of articulated linkage or is the shaft actually thread in and aroung the exhaust manifold?
Are there any major LHD/RHD body or firewall differences that make the conversion so hard to do?
I would really like to get up to speed on the major pitfalls of RHD conversions as I might be going there myself. Any help / pics etc appreciated.

Thanks,
I have am talking with Bob at Swan in Perth about that 95. Hopefully after new year is over, I will find out what is left of it. Do they do the STi in oz or only the Wrx's, how did you like yours?
Cheers.

I dont think you can import LHD anymore... makes overtaking an interesting experience!
PS the STi is available but they are all pretty slow anways, and expensive in Aussie. If you want a turbo 4wd 2lt, then the EVO far outperforms the STi.

POP, can't road registered LHD. Only if car's over 20 yo then you can register for unlimited road use, for club events etc...
We had wrx since 94 and sti since 99. Wrx/Sti are great allrounder best bang for your buck, but any dh can drive them fast, Porsche are more rewarding once you get it right.

They've got to have enough bureacracy there to make it work...
After just dismantling my interior, I can't imagine it would be fun tracking down all those parts and swapping it all out.
OZ: is your interior stripped? I guess that would help some.
