Default My Homemade Steel Hardpipes

Check it out, I spent Sunday morning doing a bit of cutting and welding. SO no I have 3" custom J pipe for my T04E with dual breather lines, IAT fitting and BOV connection complete with a nice K&N and 2.5" hard pipes. I used Summit pre-bent exhasut tubing and welded on an M12 nut for the Bango. I used gas/water galvenized piping for the various connection stubs. Just need to clean them up to finish. So how much power do hardpipes free up??

The one to the throttle was quite difficult as I had to put a angle in on the end of the pipe to clear the headlight lift bar.

Davinder,

Nice job! Its about time we stopped getting shafted woth 400 hard pipe options! I am going to make a IC pipe without the banjo, should be only a few dollars.

Hey, isnt there usually another line coming off the dampner? Instead of just one going in?

Andrew
There actually is a T off the damper, one vaccum line goes to the FRP and one to the BOV, its just hard to see on the pic.

Tony
the pipe is 2.5" nom OD and is 16ga I think, It measures 2.3" on the ID according to my verniers. On the one to the one to the turbo, I stepped it down using a exhaust adapter to 2" OD to match the outlet of the turbo. Do you think with my set up these will free up some power?

Cheers

Should the line normally goto the FPR only, or just any MAP source?

Looks good.

I'd like to change over more hoses to the braided lines like you have. Did you just the braided hose then fit the old connectors??

It just goes to the 4 legged branch piece the attached to the inlet manifold via the small banjo. Basically the FPR, damper and BOV all reference off MAP to work. Same as stock really.......

I kind of half arsed it. I wanted braded as one of the breather lines rung past the turbo, but I just used hose clamps instead of the proper swaged on aeroquip type of stuff. No probs for this type of service, the frayed ends just tear the **** out of your hands when your working with it

That is some sweet work. I would love to try welding some day...need more time.

Two questions:

1. What kind of silicone connectors did you use? Did you modify the pipes to ensure that they wouldn't pop off?

2. What are you doing on your oil breather? I guess I am just confused about the 2 lines. Care to explain? It looks really cool.

Thanks and good job-
Max
