Talking Summer vids (new clips on page two)

Oh yes! Got my new computer somewhat sorted out and managed to grab some video off the camcorder... so far I have three clips, one from my trip to germany and two from our local track events. Here's the germany clip, I'll post the rest tomorrow or something like that...

http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/asujamaa/vid/saksa2003.wmv (right click, save as, please don't stream as it's rather large)

You have to forgive me two things though, 1) picture quality / file size suck, it's frigging 50mbs and doesn't look very good. That's because I don't know how to compress with that cool divx codec... doh! and 2) It might not make much sense since it's all in Finnish (not that there's that much text/talking, but anyway)

Edit: advertising the last two clips

if you can send me the video I can compress it for you and get it hosted on my server. I can burn it in many format's divix windows media.avi.mpeg ect.ect. I am in the process of downloading it now but, if you want I can put music with it and text. I like to compress the video and not the audio cause for some reason the audio just never sounds right when compressed. Although andrew might have some idea's.

Got to love broadband! No problem streaming. =) It's always nice to see such videos and I especially like the Porsche Museum. ...it brought back memories of my visit. I only wish it were as easy a trip for me as it is for you. I would also have loved to see more of the F1 race. I have the [actual] race video taped, but I liked seeing a more "real" point of view too. I hope to be there this summer; perhaps I will post my own video... I can only hope.

Thanks for sharing!

P.S. GO KIMI!!!!!

Loved the sound of the F1's racing by...only just for a few secs, but thats what its all about....Car nuts and racing fans all over the world enjoying it all.

Streamed fine for me broadband as well.

thanks

Sami,
Thanks for the time and hard work putting this together. Now I don't have to take a vacation this year.
Care to give a rundown on where you went?
I'm curious about the tours. Looks like fun!

Yah, I was curios about the tours too, especially the tour of Weissach. (Spelling?)

How did you manage that? I was told the general public was not allowd.

it's mainly because this trip was Porsche Club of Finland's visit to factory

280k p/sec here at work Then just a short CD burn away from taking it home along with the other goodies I've found in the last couple of weeks. hehe....

Sami, right now the BEST I've found for compressing is with the Windows Media 9 Encoder which is free from Microsoft. Much fewer options to try to figure out than DiVX has (and it doesn't have spyware if you get more than the absolute lowest minimum or pay them for it...grrrr). You really need the pro package of it to get the best quality when you encode, but I'm not willing to suffer spyware on my machine or give them $$$ for it when WMV9 is free. It won't play on a Mac though.....

49MB for 13 minutes is nice. My 951 video on here with its quality and size is just over 2 minutes and it's 25MB and I'm not happy with the quality on that one.

Okay...now off to watch the video...it downloaded while I wrote this
