Looks nice, great fun watching the videos!

I don't get the point in having low gears though.. It only makes sense if your never driving faster than 120 mph.

I like the way almost all Porsches are geared - they reach top speed when the rev-limiter kicks in.

its fun to watch the stang get spanked. I actually love those 5.0L but most stang owners are @$$.
Now was that nice? Personally, I am offended.

I have recently acquired an '87 951, and thought I'd enjoy sharing ideas with a classy group such as Rennlist. I am also a mustang owner, a VERY fast daily driven mustang owner.

I would expect a comment like that on the LS1 board. It seems like the good 'ol 5.0 mustang is the car to beat, and many stories are shared over campfires about "the 5.0 that got away". But, I thought this group shared a little better etiquette, and was more concerned with preserving the 951, which I must say is one helluva car, or I wouldn't have one.

Now, if its a drag race you want, I'll hand you your "@$$" on a platter; but if you want to turn, I'll bring my Porsche.

John- good sport, cool vid, car runs great! Keep up the good work.

Thank You, and good night.

Hey, welcome to the forum. I have an 88 951 and I plan on upgrading in the future.

You're right, these cars are meant for the curves, but you gotta love the potential they have against cars with over double the displacement. But this wasn't a drag race. The real way to see what these cars have is at the autocross or at the track, but there's nothing wrong with showing what kind of potential these cars have as far as power is concerned. Driving around the curves shows the potential of the driver, but acceleration shows the potential of the car. So lighten up a bit, these cars were meant to race.

Take Care,

It's not the race, it's the remark...

No troubles, no bubbles.

Thanks!

cool vid again!! I am in the same boat as you, "mystery turbo". If your running 20psi, not sure if it's holding that to redline, it's definately not a k26/6. I want to get a maf or at least an adj. FPR, get to the dyno and tune to see what it is capable of. I know Danno has chips now for k26/8 for running 18psi and I am pretty sure mine is at least as capable as a k26/8.

What is the difference between WS6 and the Firehawk??? I have raced with a Firehawk before on the top end. Stayed with him and he seemed pretty surprised. Not sure if it was stock. I have also raced a newer model SS and beat him. Once again, he seemed very surprised. Both were done with cat still in, and old wastegate making about 10-12 psi.

Also, what is the difference between the LS1 motor and LT1 motor???

PLEASE POST SOME VETTE RACES!! I have a buddy with a vette that I want to show him a video of a 951 eating a C-5 or ZO6.

The difference between the LS1 and the LT1 is that the LT1 came was the motor in the Covette C4. The C5 had the LS1 motor.

I'm pretty sure about that...

the lt1 powerplant was in the f bodied car's 93.5+ to late 97 all trans am's, v8 camaro's, and v8 firebird's use this engine..oh and c4 vette's. in 98+ to current they use the ls1 powerplant all the same car's.....just think of the ls1 as lt1 with better cam's,valvetrain..ect.ect. they produce more hp and have alot more power potential(my opinion) than the lt1's. Todd I posted a video of me running a ls1(non zo6) vette on the freeway with intake and exhaust.

if you really pulled a firehawk and a ws6 assuming they were 98 or newer car's featuring the ls1 powerplant...and you were only running 10-12psi...you must have a serious motor.....I mean serious...it take's alot for a 217 crank hp 951(stock boost of 10psi) to run with a firehawk......I mean they are 345hp crank...and most of them get 310+ to the wheels'.....alot of them were under rated. I realize they are heavy(3600lbs) but we weigh 3000lbs ourselves so that means you would have to be getting at least 250-260rwhp to just run even with a new ls1 firehawk and about 270-280rwhp to pull out on one...can your car make 270-280rwhp at 10-12psi of boost??? I raced one (a 2002 model) and I was on 16psi at the time and I put about 2 or 3 car's on him.......he said he was stock except for a lid. And like I said number's don't tell the hole story....I was on 16 psi and I only put a few links on one. Now ofcourse if I was on 20psi I would walk him bad but, still I think you see my point.

I Have run about two dozen ls1 powered car's with my 951 ....not to mention I have friends with them....so I do know quite a bit about them...They are very quick car's even stock some regular ta's can run mid to low 13's all day long. Think of it this way in the trans am line you have a regular ta, a ws6, then a firehawk. We also had something called a sevan series ta around here(dealer special made car from lou gilloti(known lt1 and ls1 tuner)) they were about on par with a firewawk...although I liked the rims of the sevan series much better.
