Removing windshield 944 turbo
I am removing the windshield for various reasons on my 87 turbo. Managed to cut through all the polyurethane fixing the screen except for the area where the 2 supports are fixed with Allen head screws(these are I believe some sort of cam device to help position the screen when fitting it )
How do I get these blocks out and the Allen head screws so I can cut through the polyurethane and completely release the screen
?

I'm watching this to see if I can do this myself; thanks for posting. FYI are you replacing your windshield? If so, where are you sourcing it? My original is so full of pits, when the sun hits it, I can't see!

Windshield adjusters
This is the last part of info . required to remove the glass intact otherwise I can/will just break it around these 2 retainers/adjusters
You can remove the windshield yourself and I hope to confirm you can put a new one in yourself .As to finding one for a reasonable cost that is a different matter. It appears that Saint Gobain would rather you didn't do it yourself. Autover which looks after the classic division for St Gobain may sell you the correct glass but it may be more expensive than to have it fitted by a windshield pro shop who can buy it from Autover /St Gobain for a lot less than you can
Anyone know how to remove the retainers/adjusters in the picture ?

The eccentric center pins pull straight out. Not easy to grab and sometimes have residual urethane on them, I use a lock ring plier inside the hex to get a hold.
The block will then wiggle / slide down, away from the glass, same residual urethane possible.

I just did this job. Loosen block by turning eccentric and position as low as possible. There will urethane holding these blocks in place so don't be afraid to cut it away to get blocks loose. Run your cutting tool right past (over tops) of the two blocks to cut the remaining urethane and remove windshield.

The windshield is out ! Not that difficult. I now need replacement at a reasonable cost
There appears to be a aluminium section still in place. Does this need to come out? Does the Porsche part come with this aluminium part already bonded to the screen? Parts manual does not show this aluminium part
Also does anyone have the supplement from the Porsche manual on fitting /removing windshields on post 87 airbag cars?

What does this part do when installing the windshield? Does it hold the trim finisher? 944-559-543-03
When I removed the glass the plastic part that holds the trim finisher was destroyed

I cannot for the life of me find a non-Chinese windshield. Safelite could not help in my area and GlassUSA only has Chinese glass. Anyone have clues on sourcing?

Autover I had it in this thread. They are the importer/classic division for Saint Gobain who make the glass in France
New glass is available through them

Are you putting in the windshield yourself ?
