Sam there is no need to remove the fuel rail, injectors, or fuel lines. Just leave them all attached and when you remove the intake manifold you can just tilt it up to the passenger side of the car. Then you a board to prop it up vertically on the cam cover/ head. Also to replace all of the hard plastic lines with blue silicon lines you don't even have to remove the intake manifold. Just take your time and fish all the hard lines out and replace them with the blue silicon.
To replace the "octipus" of hoses underneath the intake you do deffinitely need to remove the intake manifold though. Also anyone who does this make sure to use the updated hoses that get rid of the venturi tub.

What the heck is the venturi tube???

Is that the third hose that goes from the cycling valve back to the jpipe?

From the pics I've seen, the cycling valve has (1) input form the banjo bolt, (2) return line to the Jpipe (I assume this is where the air is supposed to go that arrives from the banjo bolt)...is this the venturi tube?, and (3) signal line to the wastegate.

I"m going to the store to get a 6mm hex, and I'm poppin the intake off to solve my mystery vauum problem...

oh...and please say it's alright to temporarly (for maybe 500 miles) reuse the sealing gasket between the intake manifold and the head

Well for the complete kit with intake gasket at $70 sounds like a good deal. How much will shipping cost to New York?

You want an honest reply? You will need a new gasket.

Guys, I really can't get to one of the hex screws on the back of runner 2. It sits right under the dampner (the device on the fuel rail towards the front of the engine). Is there a trick to move the dampner at all to get the hex wrench to the screw below?

Look here for early and late 951 vacuum hose diagrams, plus a photo of early 951 rat's nest (ISV at center and venturi on left):
