If you want to go to that trouble, then you could get a turbo that would spooll up real fast (1500 - 2000rpms depending on the trim).
Have SFR build you the pipes for the T3.
Have Turbo-Performance (www.turbo-performance.com) build you a T-3 turbine section .36 a/r with a "standard" trim wheel.
Turbonetics Part Number: 20369-72
or
Garrett Part Number: 430410-0011
Then fit a T04B compressor, "S" trim.
That's a mighty small turbo setup, that will for sure spool up real fast.
Turbo-performance has block off plates that will allow you to use your external wastegate, etc..
Good luck,
TonyG

What kind of power could you expect from this setup?
Why aren't there any kit's out there for people looking for moderate power (maybe 250-280rwhp) and ultra fast spool up?

I have a stock K26/6 and I just pulled the J-boot off recently and checked and my turbo appears to be in great shape on this car, although I can't promise that it wasn't rebuilt/replaced before the first PO owned it and sold it as my car has lots of the updates to the later 951 stuff with headers, interior etc. and I don't have the receipts for that either. However, my lil K26/6 with the mods in my sig comes on pretty quick. 2nd gear and accelerating hard from a steady speed around 2500 I have boost by about 2700 and I'm pretty close to max boost by 3000/3100 at around 15 and holds till about 5k or so and starts losing. I wouldn't call the boost coming on a HIT, but it does come on fairly quickly. Had the line to the MBC come off once and I had no boost limit for one time when I was with my mechanic trying out a change to the car and that thing was a beast. We had to immediately let off and drive easy back to hook the line up again, but it would boost to 20psi (saw it the one time when the hose came off) and holy cow....that was unreal. But yeah, this one comes on pretty strong....I'm hoping to see more of a "hit" with the Guru chips which I'm currently waiting on now.

A T04B S trim compressor would probably max out at about 300-310 rwhp (33 lb/min airflow) at maybe 18 psi. I'm not sure if the small T3 turbine would get it there, though; it may depend how efficient the exhaust system is.

TonyG's recommended T04B/T3 hybrid would probably work great for Schnellfahrer's goal of fast spool-up and moderate (250-280 rwhp) power. JPR's goal of 325-350 rwhp out of our 2.5 L with super-fast spool-up is a bit more difficult.
