Default door lock

Hoping someone can clue me in so I can buy the necessary part(s) before having to tear into it. My driver's door lock doesn't go down when I use the key fob (aftermarket alarm system already installed when I bought it), but I can stick the key in the door and lock it that way. I assume there's a linkage or some other plastic part that gave up the ghost? If anyone's been there, done that and can share part number(s) I would appreciate it!

I made one out of aluminium. I should have taken a photo of it. didn't realise they're so cheap. Now i know for next time.

Parts ordered last night. Thanks for the write up Tom! Not looking forward to pulling the 30 year old plastic sheeting from the door...

The plastic sheeting actually holds up well. Just pull it off slowly and from different directions.

You may want to take a moment to notice how it is installed, especially in the large square opening. Porsche used two layers in that spot and there's a flap that goes on both sides. Nothing complicated, just not what you might expect.
