Thumbs up Tial wastegate group buy

Happy New Year

As some of you already know, I have a group buy going, with John D's blessing, on the Tial 38mm wastegate kit, for 305$(shipping included).

For those interested, this includes a 38mm Tial wastegate with a .8bar spring (I can special order other springs), 2 adapter plates to mount to a 2 piece cross over pipe, all the hardware needed, and shipping in the continental U.S.

Orders must be placed before the 9th of January 2004.

Those who whish a different spring then the .8 bar, should let me know in advance(if possible), to minimize the shipping delay.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Paypal. All inquireries should be made at Steven.wistuba@ypg.com .

We welcome Canadians to email me for specific pricing.

Can you help me understand the spring rate thing? If you are controlling boost with a boost controller anyway, why would one need to fuss over getting just the right spring rate?

The spring defines the minimum boost you're able to run. From there you can raise the boost with a boost controller.

Exactly.I personally run a 8.70psi (.6bar) spring, with excellent results. But some people prefer a higher spring rate.

MySwiss how much HP can the 38mm wastegate hold. Would it be good for 350-360 rear wheel HP?

86 944turbo. The Tial 38mm , will hold all the HP you throw at it. The only reason you would want a larger wastegate, like a 46mm, is if your racing for long periods or using leaded gas. Other then that, the 38mm will evacuate, all the gases fast enough for your turbo, and work well with all the heat our cars can generate.

Just take a look at my signature.

Will this WG also fit cars with the 1-piece crossover pipe?

Yes. But you will probably need your local muffler shop to do the install. Cause they might need to cut and re-weld your wastegate intake pipe, from the cross over pipe (to shorten it). Expect about 50$ in labor.

Not being mechanically inclined, how does one know if thier '87 951 which is stock has a 1 piece or 2 piece cross-over?

Blueman, you can pretty much assume that the '87 has the 2 piece.

If you take a look at your WG it's attached to your crossover pipe via a small section of piping. If that small section of piping is welded onto the crossover pipe then it's a one piece crossover. If there's a flange attaching the small section of piping coming from your wastegate to the crossover pipe then you have the two piece. Most cars will have the two piece so long as they're 87+. Most of the 86s have the two piece as well as the one piece only came with the original style 86 header manifolds which were recalled. When the recalled headers were removed so were the one piece crossover pipes which were then replaced with the two piece pipes. So if you have the updated headers, chances are that you also have the two piece crossover pipe.

Get under there and take a quick look at your WG to crossover connection If the flange is there then you're in luck.

Cheers,
Sach

Here the pic from MySwiss.... The 2 piece cross
over(LEFT side), is a straight bolt on. The 1 piece(RIGHT SIDE) might need
to be cut and rewelded, in order to clear the torque tube.

Greetings,
Wolfgang
