My rear hatch on my '89 has stopped working. At first it was intermittent and for no rhyme or reason. The button under the dash and the key in back give me the same result, no movement or sound from the motor. I have to climb back there to open it at this point. I have used the search but I haven't found anyone who has found a solution.

Hmm.. doesn't the key work mechanically while the button operates a motor (to imitate the key operation)? Unless the linkage is broken, odd that both don't unlock it.

It's all electric. I have found other threads with the same issue, but no solution. Anyone know what I should look for?
