Default piston rings

Am replacing 993 piston rings as part of top end rebuild. Have heard that the Goetze rings are not very good and can cause problems. Are some replacement rings proven to perform better than others or is this just people blowing smoke?

993?
wrong section mate.
But to answer some questions. I know people using Goetze rings with no problems. I myself currently have Lindsey Racing rings in my car with no issues what so ever. But there's nothing wrong with OEM stuff.

Goetze is garbage. Avoid at all costs.

When replaced my piston rings on my 951, the price difference between Goetzes and Mahles were almost none. I paid 130€ for the whole set and got high quality rings with perfect ring gap straight out of the box. Not the first place i would try to save 5€.

It's not that Goetze is garbage.. it's just they revised their end gap specs around 2010 , which results in a much larger unwanted end gap clearance right from the start. You can thank California emissions for that one...
