Looks like a serious disk! Hopefully it's street friendly enough. If not, KEP1 and Cup disk will hold the power and is smooth as stock.

A 4 puck without springs is pretty much on or off, I do not believe that is going to be real street friendly. KEP has a 6 puck with springs that is a little more user friendly.

But you can break anything if you try hard enough.
Wait, what?
I thought only the Turbo S trans (AOR) had hardened 1st and 2nd (?)

S2 AOS/AOT transmission uses the same input shaft as the Turbo S AOR, which is the component with the hardened 1st and 2nd gear teeth.

That's correct. The original input shaft for the 944S, S2, and Turbo versions of the transmission was superseded by the new version first used in the Turbo S gearbox. It had the stronger 1st and 2nd gears cast into it, and can be retrofit to S, S2, and Turbo gearboxes without a lot of drama or set-up: I've done a bunch.

Of course what you won't get is the improved "gen 3" (my term for it) LSD that was also added to the AOR. It has thicker clutch discs (2.50 vs 2.00 mm thick), correspondingly thinner pressure rings, and moly coating on the cross-shafts where the spider gears ride. Some came through with moly coating on the spider gear teeth as well. I am seeing more of the cross-shafts with wear issues these days. Keep that fluid fresh! Cheers,

Thanks Kevin and Oddjob!
Very cool to discover that my S2 already has half the battle won (AOS)! Clark's Garage should probably update the S2 trans descriptions.
Right now I'd have to say my 951S is more fun with LSD, but the S2 is more fun without

Just installed an AOS box with OSG LSD and cooler, so we will test this again!

Check that there is no rubbing of the transmission oil cooler pipe with the shock coil-over spring. This happened to a customer recently -- I didn't do the install, just the rebuild! It was fine on the lift, apparently, but in use things rubbed. Good luck!

I’ve got about 1.5 fingers clearance up on jacks, but I’ll double check it when I drop it as well, thanks for the heads up!
