Default Tires for my 18" BBS E88's

So I bought some 18" BBS E88's from a fellow rennlister and I wanted to get some advice from you guys regarding tire sizes.

The car is a 1988 944 Turbo and here are the wheel specs:

FRONT: 18 x 8 ET 51

REAR: 18 x 10 ET 63.5

The tires I want to buy are Michelin Pilot 4S's in the following sizes:

245/40/18 and 275/35/18 in the rear. Ideally since I am running an 8 inch wheel in the front I would like to run 235's but Michelin doesn't make the PS4's in that size. What other brands/sizes are you guys running on 18's?

I have ran Falken 615s for years on and off the track. The tires are better than I am on the track and they are quiet on the road. Don't let the aggressive looking tread fool you. Discount Tire Direct is offering a great deal right now on a set of 4 you can save up to $100 by using their CC. I've used Discount Tire for years, great service and most times they beat Tire Rack. And Falken has the sizes you want, plus the tires are not directional so you can swap sides to account for wear

Thank you I appreciate the input. What size were you running?

Thanks. Looks like since I am running 8's up front I'm going to have to go with 235/40's in the front and 275/35's in the rear. Is it recommended to go with 40's and 35's or should I keep them at 35 all around?

Use the 35 in the rear, otherwise the tire will be too tall.

FWIW I don't think these cars need a lot of stagger.

I have 8's and 10's too and used 225/40 and 265/35 Michelin SuperSports. I love the PSS's (and the P4S is supposedly even better), but am planning to go wider in front (235 or 245) this year to reduce push.

I ended up going with 235 and 275 Pilot 4S's. Love them so far. Thanks everyone for your input

So I dug this thread up...

Were you able to easily fit the 18" in place? I'm looking at a set of 8 and 10 x 18, 52 and 65 respectively. Thoughts on clearance issues? Stock brakes, rolling fenders not an option.

I remember years ago Porsche recommended upgrade the control arm mounting points to the 968 ones if you go larger than 16. I assume you did this?

Thanks.

I've run 18" PS2's for years, just fitted a new set. 225/40 and 265/35, which are the sizes Porsche fitted to the 968 S/RS I believe. I fitted N rated as I've read there's more than one compound for the PS2, and I wanted to make sure all 4 were the same.
