"Pearl White" 951's???
Hi,
I seem to recall some info being posted about a special option color called "Pear White" posted somewhere on this board. There is a nice clean car (pic attached) that the seller claims is Pearl White. I'm interested to know more about this and whether this car has any special status because of the color. As you can see it also has the Fuchs color-coded to the body and painted crests. It's a nice looking car with an excellent maintenance history, but still has 130K miles on it.
Any info much appreciated. The asking price is ridiculously high (unless the "Pearl White status is worth lots of $$)! But it's still a very clean and well-maintained example that I might be interested in if the price gets real.
TIA for any info.

It's always hard to tell from just the photos, but it could be pearl white. It carries a premium because it's a rare color and tough paint to replicate. I hear it uses actual crushed up pearls in the paint.
Search is your friend -- lots of discussion on rarity of pearl white 951. There is a story about how there were only 6 of them. I don't think it's correct, and have been keeping track of VIN here: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/170256-yet-another-pearl-white-for-sale.html . If you have a VIN for that car, it'd be nice if you added onto that thread.

Hey Joe,
I did think of searching after I posted...and found some of the previous threads. This is also a non-sunroof car, which some mention as possibly being the source of the "only 6" made. It seems pretty obvious there are more than 6, but maybe not more than 6 non-sunroof cars. It also has the burgundy interior, which is common with white cars, but really, really not one of my favorites.
The VIN is WP0AA0959GN26308.
Looking forward to more info.... ;-).

Interesting.... we hadn't seen #6308 before. And certainly this is the first I've heard of a non-sunroof Pearl White. Pretty cool!
PS -- something's wrong with the VIN (missing character and it should a '1' after the N for a 951).
Personally, I wouldn't pay much premium for the color. It's a lovely color (especially in person), but color doesn't add to performance in anyway.

Hi Joe,
My bad--there is a "1" in the VIN where it should be. I've already run a Carfax on it and it's clean. I wouldn't pay a *lot* extra for the color either. And, as I mentioned, the seller is talking ridiculous money for a stock '86. But he's a good guy and I don't want to burst his bubble, but would rather educate him on the true value of his car.

Condition is a lot more important than miles on a 20 year old car. Before asking the question I thought the asking price was north of $30k.

are you sure it's a non-sunroof car? almost looks like there's a line for one in the pic i owned a pearl white one it was originally maraschino red and was re-sprayed buy i think a porsche dealer in new jersey when i repaired it it turned out to be a toyota supra paint code.

Hey Steve,
While I wish it wasn't the case, I agree with you that 15k for a stock '86 with 130k miles is too high. While I love the pearl white, the burgundy would be a deal breaker for me. I agree with the others, there looks like a sunroof present in that picture. Good luck.

15k for a 130k pearl white?
holy ****, sign me up!
i paid 9k for a 110k mile pearl white with plenty of recent maintenance done, a VERY recent TOTAL respray, upgraded suspension, chips, cat-back, etc.
right now mine is up to 130k, and i'd expect to get 9-10k on a good day.
and i believe mine had the clutch and t-belt done at 104k, along with the oil pan gasket.
and mine has a turbo S tranny........
i'd also like to know how many pearl whites there are out there, though.........

for 15k it had better have just had t-belt, clutch, and a refresh of some wear and tear items.
and an absolutely pristine interior
my car has upgrades to where i can return to stock if i need smog, but i can still have enough fun to get me in trouble.
yeah, pearl white is a really great color combo, and the argument of rarity can be made. if i ever have to deal with insurance (i sure hope not), i hope i can convince them that it's a 15k car
the pearl/burgundy '86 combo is rare, but it's an issue of if that's something you really want to pay an extra 5k for.
i absolutely love my pearl white and consider myself lucky to have come across it. the burgundy set me off at first, but it grew on me, and i think it looks real nice.
but for 15k you can buy a nicely modded 951 and another 944 N/A
