Howdy,
Can a K26 turbo from a 86-89 Audi 2.2L be used as the base for a K27/6 hybrid build?
I have a K26 turbo with the following information
I.D Plate P/N 5326 970 6411
Compressor P/N 5326 101 5071
Turbine P/N 5326 101 6367

normaly when you build a k27 hybrid you reuse the hot side, either a #6 from a non Turbo S, or the #8 housing from the Turbo S and 89 MY cars. So where would you get the hotside housing for the hybrid?
Also I think the center secion on the audi is different. IIRC.....

Humm...
The Audi K26 is a comlete unit with all 3 sections. Is the hot side completly different from the 951 K26? Center section appears to have both water and oil ports also.
Since this is not totaly understood by me, does this sound correct for a K27/6. Take a K26 turbine and center section and mate it with a K27 compressor section. Would that be correct?

Are you sure that the Audi turbo you have is a K26? My friend has a 1990 Coupe Quatro that we did an engine swap with. He used the 2.2L 20 Valve engine and the stock turbo on that was a K24. I would have thought that the earlier 10 valver would also use a K24. You might want to double check that turbo.

The turbo P/N is 5326 970 6411 and is stamped K26. This part number shows it as Audi, 86-89, 2.2L, K26/6.95 which is the larger of the 2 K26's used.
The Porsche P/N is 5326 970 6720 and shows it as K26/6.92
Does the /6.92 and /6.95 refer to the hot side? Is that a diameter measurement?

Meangreen - I have a spare K26, make me an offer and it is yours. NO shaft play (may be a first, but I really can feel any), appears to have been rebuilt by PO at some point.
