Default Redeeming the K26/6?

Greetings. I'm in the middle of redoing some long overdue upgrades on my 1988 non "S". I have vintage Lindsey Racing MAF-2 with M pro tuner, 3 inch exhaust etc., Working on removing the engine management for VEMS PnP. Question is regarding my K26/6. I'm told I can achieve similar results as a stock K26/8 by clipping the hot side blades to reduce back pressure. The goal is to have about 300-310HP at the rear wheels while not being taxed in the lower range. Its a daily driver and I spend more time wanting more umph in the lower rpm's than in the higher rpms.

Does this sound like a good Idea for the K26/6??

thanks in advance

Also no.
e-man930 can hook you up with a k-26 / 9 that will outspool your 26/6 and do 350 to the wheels on a dyno jet without breaking a sweat

Humboldtgrin, Auto_werks 3.6, and ealoken thank you for your input. I'm gonna have charlie at Evergreen hook me up with a K27/6 hybrid. Charlie says there will be some clipping involved.

Thank you

Jaime

I have a K26/7 Hybrid, and if I were to do it again I’d skip to a newer turbo.

the number 6 turbine and housing is the first part that should go in the garbage. Anyone building turbos like that is 100% living in the past. Smart sizing will out spool the stock turbo and drop back pressure.

Do you have any back pressure readings using this turbo that you are talking about?

Got my k27/6 hybrid from Charlie in Florida. Does very nice work. Hot side wheel is clipped, so this will help with back pressure. I just finally pulled out the oil pan. What a pain in the ****!! Broke the inner oil pan baffle trying to pry it out using the tabs provided on the pan. I don't feel too bad as I discovered some of the plastic scraper tabs on the baffle inadvertently got too close to the crank and were broken off. I'll purchase another one and that is that. I was really surprised at the degree of tightness of those little allen bolts used to keep the baffle in. Damn things self destroyed while attempting to remove. Had to use compression pliers on the outside head to turn em. Guess Porsche doesn't want them to be sucked in somehow into the oil pick up..... Anyone know what type of adhesive was used for this. Looked like a chalky white substance.

Jaime
