Default TheAllusionist - Digital Showroom

I have been working on and off for a year to recreate my 951 digitally so that I could render it out in different settings and play with colors and graphics.

My car is parked with a blown head gasket so I am living vicariously through my digital version.

Here is screen shots of completed modeling and then texturing.

Here is the digital car in the first digital scene. Next I think I will work on a matte background with implied motion.

Thanks, I typically do architecture, because I am an architect by trade, but I love cars and always wanted to get into doing automotive design. I am the founder of 3DAllusions.com and MrMaterials.com, the latter I am just getting back going, but the artist who helped me start it up (Jeff Patton) ended up getting a gig rendering out the next year's version of models for Mercedes. I am quite jealous of the skills he acquired working in the auto industry but as a freelancer. You can see some of his work at his site: http://jeffpatton.net/gallery/

So I have decided to branch out my rendering company to start doing more automotive work if possible and thought about offering services of showing people what their car would look like with certain colors, graphics or wheels for example, we could offer it up for different models etc. so people could visualize what their car could look like. My studio will start doing more automotive renderings if I can line up the work. I need to update galleries to show more automotive work. Well this is sounding like a commercial, so I may as well continue to a full on shameless plug and link my studio site: https://www.3dastudio.com/

Very cool stuff. CAD etc certainly has improved over the years.

Not certain how far CAD has come, but rendering software and unbiased rendering has come leaps and bounds for sure!

Sweet, looking good!

My step son and I got the "Porsche Pack" for Forza and created one as well to drive around:

Wow! Amazing skill there. Can you export an .stl file so we can print it?

Thanks, looking at other styles of wheels is one of the reasons I undertook the task.

I have worked on and off again for over a year when I had free time. It probabably would print out as STL, never tried it, or sent anything to a 3D printer so I don't know how things need to be organized.

Nice stuff. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to future stuff.

Any chance that you would have the entire Porsche color codes available eventually to see what our cars look like with any Porsche color option?

I don't have that information off hand, but their could be a RAL, Pantone or RGB equivalent chart somewhere that could be used for that. I just haven't looked around yet, just got done with this phase. Chances are one could match close enough that you couldn't tell the difference if you had a good color chart to start with.

Amazing work! Really cool. Something does not look quite right on the rear quarters, maybe just lighting.

Could be, part of rendering it out in different settings is that I find things wrong and fix them. Taking a bit of a break on it. I am supposed to start testing and using a new rendering package and I may convert this over for that. I am sure there are a lot of things to tweak and there are items I know are a tad heavy handed, but haven't been able to tweak it out yet.
