Whats the different with later cars?
For the odd reason mine has "late" features on the block like the ballance shaft housing & bearings. Sump. ect. But as far as i know it's the factory engine.
I also have the auto belt tensioner.
So what initially happened was the auto belt tensioner pulley broke and bang goes the engine.
When i got the new pulley, i wasn't sure which way it went on and it seemed right to put the all the same way. When i noticed the belt was out, i first went in the internet and looked at photos then checked mine and found the issue. PITA fix but all sorted now.
Stupidly i post my issue, then go looking for it and go back to the forum finding the same solution i've done.
Fixed now and so is the engine gladly.

82-86 TB tensioner is eccentric and looks like the balance belt tensioner but with the flange on the other side.
87+ "auto" tensioner is not eccentric, just a big gear with centered hole but with the same flange position as the early model
