Default Haltech stand alone.

Has anyone heard or know of someone running a Haltech standalone on a porsche (preferably a 944) yet ? I know there were a couple of posts mentioning it in the past and a few people were considering it. I was wondering how readily the haltech interfaces to the Bosch timing sensors and TPS among other things.

OZ - I know a number of people running the E6K on RX-7s. Dont know if that helps but I can get info from them. Additionally, what about Microtech (the Australian company) dont they do a stand alone as well?

I don't know about Haltech, but DTAPro seems quite compatible with our stock sensors. Also the DTAPro P8 seems like the best standalone you get for reasonable money! Anti-lag, traction control etc.

They have a wiring scheme on their website that also specify the sensors it can work with.
(you can download the wiring scheme and other things here http://www.dtafast.co.uk/software.htm )

There is a guy named Jon K. here in So Cal who has installed DTA into a 944 Turbo. I got a ride in it and with stock turbo/injectors, it scared me. He ended up selling the car but has intalled DTA in 911's, 300Z turbos, ect. Look up Zeil Motorsports in Downey, CA. He (Jon) doesnt speak english real well, he's Japanese. Very nice chap.

Matt,
Define "scared", please. Was driveability good, and the car was just fast as heck, or . . .

Thanks,
J

With any standalone, drivability is as good as stock, if not better. Assuming the tuning was done right .

OZ,
On your sensor question, you have to use the haltech provided sensors. On the crank sensor, you have to have the haltech made to work with motronic trigger from the factory, if not then you need a Reluctor Adapter, RA8, to work with your factory crank sensor. But i think that the newest version ( the E6x ) allready has the RA8 built in, as for the tps i will have to do some checking.

p.s...............sparkling, pale or dark for saturday

Lol, sorry Matt but I am sure you will be into it soon enough. Good luck with the rebuild work, I hope it all comes together with a minimum of delays and hassles.

It looks like I will have the engine in tomorrow, I am waiting on some parts, so hopefully, I can make some mock up for seat rails. I hope to hear it run about Christmas time. Any suggestions on how to set the ARC-2?

"Scared" as in "scarry-fast". It did not lope around or have any off idle stumbles, but I didnt drive it and I think it only saw idle and wide open while I was in it. Also, with stand alone of any ilk, driveability is all in the tuning. Jon races 911 Turbo's and loves P cars over all the rice tuner cars that are his bread and butter (kids these days. . .).

I think DTA is a very nice solution. I map it just below Motec and signif. above the SDS and Haltech in terms of feature set. Just my perspective - caveat emptor.

Quick Reply: Haltech stand alone.
