944 E Production rule change
In the 1989 model year, Porsche made and sold the 944 with an 8-valve 2.7 liter motor in addition to the 16-valve cars, the 944S and S2. The change in displacement was simply a larger bore with the same stroke. This one-year change also added larger 48mm intake valves to gain a net of 5 horsepower. These are the only changes from the 8V 2.5L cars. Everything else is exactly the same although a 50 pound "penalty" raises the minimum weight to 2300lbs. Hopefully I can gain more than 5 horsepower and continue to develop the rest of the car.
The latest state of the E Production class has BMW Z3s, RX7s, Miatas and Caterhams raising the bar and winning races. I feel that the 944 can still be a great Production car, especially with light weight. Hence my decision to approach the CRB. We'll see what happens....
