Adding 18mm rear sway to 84 944
I have an 84 with no factory rear sway with the stock 20mm solid front sways. Rest of suspension is stock. I have an 18mm 951 rear bar with all the hardware.
Will the 18mm rear be too much for the 20mm fronts? Too much oversteer?
Should I try it or look for a larger front sway bar right away?

factory paired the 18mm rear with (IIRC) 26.8mm front bar on the 951/S2.
default setting for the OEM (Porsche included) is to make the cars more understeer-y for safety reasons and ease of driving.
if the car is a toy and less of a daily driver and you EXPECT it to oversteer more i think that it could be fun pairing the 18 with the 20...but maybe still worthwhile to look for a bigger bar for the long run.
FWIW i have had 25.5F/18R for 10+ years now. paired with 200# front spring and stock torsion bars it understeered a lot. when i put larger torsion bars in to match the front springs the car is more neutral now but it will oversteer if you get aggressive with it - i think it's a lot of fun but still easy to drive normally on the street if you behave.

Thanks,
I think for 84 the optional rear was 14 and the fronts were 21.5 (solid). I think for one year (86?) the 18mm was paired with the 21.5 solid but after that the fronts got larger.
I may just try the 18/20 and see how it goes. And yes the car is toy.
