84' Porsche 944 NA Windshield Washer not spraying
Hi, trying to figure out what the problem is with the Windshield Wiper Washer fluid I have a 1984 Porsche 944 NA model, the windshield wiper fluid is not spraying. This is what I have done so far:
Replaced the wiper pump, which is attached to the wiper tank
Checked the lines from inside the tank to the top of the hood and look clear
Filled the wiper fluid tank
That's about it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
thanks

If you haven't done so yet, check to see if there's power to the leads to the pump when you trigger the spray from inside the car. If there's no power, you won't get anything useful no matter how new the pump.
It might also be worth bench-testing the pump just to be sure, especially if it was used.

Thanks,,,,the pump I installed is new, so don't think that is the issue. Dumm question, I am bad when it comes to electrical, how would I test the lead? I am assuming you mean the connection that connects to the pump?
thanks again
thanks again

Yep. Simplest check is just to have someone stand near the pump and listen to it when you pull the stalk to run the pump. If it makes noise, power to the pump's not likely your issue. If it's quiet, then I'd check for voltage w/ a voltmeter/multimeter. Assuming things are fine, I'd expect you'd see something in the general vicinity of 12V across the two lines connecting to the pump when it's supposed to be spraying, and 0V when not.

I have the same problem with the pump and confirmed not getting power. My owners manual does not identify a fuse for the washer pump. Any suggestion on how I get power back to pump. The wiper blades come on when I pull the stalk so there is power there.

I believe that there are some spring loaded electrical contacts in the wsw switch on the steering column. Pulling the lever back to activate the washer brings the contacts together and powers the washer pump motor. These contacts look pretty much like old ignition point contacts and can become corroded or bent out of alignment. You'll have to pull the steering wheel and remove the turn and wsw levers ( the two of them snap together with very flimsy plastic clips so be careful with them). Once the wsw lever is off, you can see the electrical contacts inside of it and clean or adjust them. It has been a while since I did this, but I think that what I have described is essentially correct.

I was messing with this tonight. When I run 12V to the pump it kind of clicks but does nothing else. What should it do? With the hoses disconnected should it be pushing air? I know I have 12V to the pump.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know this is an old thread, but for pumps that are just "clicking", take it apart, clean the gears that are likely gummed up at the bottom and put it back together. If you want to pull the cover off the motor, that can be done too. I put a bit of oil on the end of the shaft that mounts at the top.
