Bad sign sound or just old oil??
I just bought my first 89'944. The previous owner had it sitting for almost a year and didnt even start it. I had it towed from his location to my house and then started it, it started fine once the fuel lines filled up again, but it makes a clak-clak-clack sound coming from the engine on the driver side. I have not driven it or left it on for more that 1minute thinking im hurting something. Do I have to wait until the oil comes back up?? should I let it warm up??

There's is a proper way to start a car thats' been standing a long time
I think you should remove the spark plugs and the centre lead from the distributtor to the coil
poor a few drops of oil into each cylinder and just crank the engine for about a minute.
replace all parts then start and drive car immediatley DONT let it warm up get it up to operating tempreature as soon as possible
DONT race or over rev the car, get it onto the motorway and do a steady 50mph till she feels and sounds right.
However if at anystage it sounds really bad or any warning lights come on stop, get her home and investigfate
hope this helps

Not to be the pessimist, but how loud is the clak clak? Any possibility the cam/balance belts have slipped and the noise you are hearing is cylinders hitting valves? Did you know the PO? They usually sit when the belts have failed

for those that took the time to reply.. thanks.
it was nothing serious, it just needed to have the oil changed and be driven. I also replaced all the belts, including timing, hoses, and all fluids. here is a pic of the finished product.
mind you I got this car for $1000..
