I am looking for a recommendation for a PPI shop in North Central NJ (Patterson, Wayne, Parsippany areas) for a 944.

Hybrid Motors is the place to go. Ask for Lee- he is the god of mechanics for anything Porsche and he also drives a 944. http://www.hybridmotorsinc.com/
They are about 10 minutes from the Lincoln tunnel.

Another option is Powertech in Rockaway. Ask for Mike Daino.
No direct experience but have spoken to them a number of times and they seem quite sharp. You may want to do some research on them yourself.
Where is the car located? You should try to use a shop close by.
Another thought is to contact some of the people in the local PCA region. That's what I did when I was seeking a shop near Laguna Beach, CA for a PPI. They were quite helpful.
