is the top willing to close with the switch? mine has this problem and i went through the entire electrical system...EXCEPT the SWITCH. it works one way and not the other. just like the window switch acts up sometimes. it's my next purchase, plus it's a cheap start.

I thought there was a limit switch that stopped the top when it closed, and this same limit switch needs to be overcome when opening. Does your top pop open a bit when you unlatch it?
I should check mine again, it's been down for a couple of months. maybe I misremember the sequence. I need to close it up and wash it anyway.

Sure -- when you unlatch it there is a bit of a release so it pops up by maybe an inch or so. But at that point I just press the switch and down she goes.

edel,
when you unlatch the hood, you must push it up a few centimeteres, as the 2 long metal prongs break a set of relays in the holes.
this effectifley cuts out power to the motor, as a kind of safety device.
ie, your driving along, and you "accidentally open the hood and try and put the top down "
