I am putting a 944S engine in a 924S chassis and I am working through wiring harness issues. Long story short how important is the ignition amplifier. From the wiring diagram looks like you can leave it out and run #1 output from the DME to the coil (just like the earlier cars) and go on. Any thoughts, anyone?

need more information like which ECU you are using ?
the late ECU (DME) sends a pulsed signal to the ignition amplifier, ( not a voltage ) The ignition amplifier then amplifies that output to the coil. you cannot remove the amplifier and run the coil from the ECU
